BetBooker App Privacy Policy: Permissions, Device Data and Your Controls
A mobile application sits closer to your personal life than a website does. It stays on your home screen, it can send notifications at any hour and it can ask your phone for access to the camera, storage or location. This policy explains what the BetBooker app asks for on Android and iOS, what it collects when you use it and how you can limit it. It is meant for players in Ghana who use the app for sports betting, for games at the betbooker casino or for quick access through betbooker login.
Scope of This Policy
The policy applies to the official BetBooker app and to any version of it downloaded from the website or from an app store. It does not cover other apps on your phone, websites that you open through a link, or services of your network operator. The general privacy policy of BetBooker Ghana remains valid for everything that is not described here.
Only people aged 18 or older may install and use the app, in line with the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721). If you share a phone with a younger family member, use the screen lock and a separate profile so that they cannot open your account.
Information the App Collects
- Account information. Your username, a session token that keeps you signed in, your balance and your settings. The password is never saved in readable form.
- Device information. Model, operating system version, language, screen size, available memory, time zone and a technical identifier generated for the installation. This information lets us fix crashes, adapt the layout to your screen and recognise the device when it signs in again.
- App usage information. Screens you open, buttons you press, the time spent in each section and the errors you meet. We use it to find slow pages and to decide which features to improve.
- Network information. IP address, type of connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) and the name of your network operator, which helps us deal with connection problems that are common on weaker mobile signals.
- Content you provide. Photos of identity documents, a selfie for verification and messages to support, only when you choose to send them.
- Approximate location. Derived from your IP address. The app does not track your movements and does not read GPS coordinates unless you grant location access for a feature that needs it.
Permissions the App May Request
| Permission | When it is requested | What happens if you refuse |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | After installation or at first login | You receive no push messages; email and in-app inbox still work |
| Camera | When you upload a document or take a selfie | You can upload files from the gallery or through the website |
| Photos or files | When you choose an existing picture | You can use the camera instead |
| Biometrics (fingerprint or face unlock) | If you enable quick sign-in | You sign in with your password and one-time code |
| Location | Only if a feature asks for precise position | The app works with approximate location from the IP address |
| Installation from unknown sources (Android) | If you download the file from the website | Install the app from an official store instead where available |
The app does not ask for access to your contacts, call history, text messages, microphone or calendar. If you see a request for any of these, you are most likely looking at an unofficial copy, and you should remove it and report it to support.
Biometric Sign-In
When you turn on fingerprint or face unlock, the check is performed by the operating system of your phone. The app receives only a yes or no answer. BetBooker never receives, stores or copies the fingerprint or face data. You can turn this feature off in the app settings at any time, and the app will then ask for your password again.
Push Notifications
Push messages tell you about the status of a withdrawal, a security alert, the result of a bet or, with your consent, a promotion. We separate them into two groups. Service and security notices stay active as long as notifications are allowed for the app. Promotional notices can be switched off independently in the notification section of the settings without losing the others.
To receive notifications, the app registers a token with Google or Apple. The token identifies the installation to the push service and carries no information about your balance or bets. The text of a message is delivered to your phone and displayed according to your lock-screen settings, so consider hiding the content on a locked phone if others can see it.
Why the App Uses This Information
- Operating the service. Keeping you signed in, showing the correct balance and processing bets and payments.
- Security. Recognising your device, blocking access from unknown devices until confirmed and detecting tampering, such as modified app files or emulators that are used for fraud.
- Performance. Finding crashes and slow screens so that the app runs smoothly on the mid-range phones that many players in Ghana use.
- Communication. Sending notices you have asked for and replies from support.
- Compliance. Keeping records that the law requires, including login history and transaction logs.
- Responsible gambling. Showing session reminders, limits and reality checks at the intervals you choose.
Analytics and Crash Reports
The app uses analytics and crash-reporting tools provided by technology partners. These tools record how the app behaves and, when it crashes, a report that contains the device model, the version of the system and technical details of the error. Reports do not contain your password, document images or full payment details.
You may limit analytics in the privacy section of the app settings. Crash reports needed for security and stability may still be sent in a form that does not identify you personally.
Sharing With Other Parties
We share app data only with companies that perform a defined service for BetBooker: cloud hosting, push notification delivery, analytics, crash reporting, identity verification and payment processing. Each company receives the minimum data required and is bound by a written agreement. Authorities may receive data when a lawful request is made. We do not sell app data and we do not pass it to advertisers for profiling.
Data Stored on Your Phone
The app keeps a small amount of information on the device so that it can start quickly and work during short interruptions of the signal: the session token, language, display settings and a cache of images and game thumbnails. Betting history and payment records stay on our servers.
If you sign out, the token is removed. If you uninstall the app, locally stored data is deleted with it, but your account and its records remain at BetBooker until you close the account.
Keeping Your App and Account Secure
- Install the app only from the official website or an official store. Copies from messaging groups and file-sharing sites may contain malicious code.
- Keep the app and your operating system updated, because updates fix known security flaws.
- Use a screen lock, and enable biometric sign-in only on a phone that is not shared.
- Sign out when you hand your phone to someone for repairs.
- Do not use rooted or jailbroken devices, since they weaken the protections of the system. The app may refuse to run on them.
- If your phone is lost or stolen, change your password from another device, ask your network operator to block the SIM and tell support so that active sessions can be ended.
Installing the App From the Website on Android
Players on Android may download the installation file from the website of BetBooker. Before you install it, open the phone settings and allow installation from the browser you used, and switch the permission off again when the installation finishes. Compare the app name and the developer details that the installer shows with the information on our download page. If the package asks for contacts, messages or the microphone, cancel the installation. After installation, the app checks its own signature on each start, and it warns you when files have been changed. On iPhone, use the official store page and the automatic update setting.
Children, Shared Devices and Screen Time
The app displays a reminder that gambling is for adults and offers a reality check that shows how long the session has lasted and how much has been staked. You can set the reminder to appear every 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Parents who allow children to use a phone should keep the app behind a screen lock and should never save the password in the browser or in a shared keyboard. Phone settings for screen time and app limits give a second layer of control, and they work independently of our tools.
Updates and Changes in the App
New versions can bring new features, and some features may need additional data or permissions. When this happens we update this policy and show a notice in the app before the feature starts to collect anything new. Permissions are never added silently. Android and iOS also ask you for approval at the moment a permission becomes necessary.
Your Rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you may ask for a copy of your data, request a correction, object to certain processing and request deletion where no legal duty to keep the data exists. You can manage many choices directly in the app: notifications, analytics, biometric sign-in and marketing consent. For other requests, use the contact page of the website. We answer within 30 days. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
